Eagle Fern Veterinary Hospital's Small Animal Services
for your dog and cat.

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of a physical examination once yearly for younger animals and adults, twice yearly for our senior patients. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems.

Behind every service are hours of continuing education by our doctors and staff to bring you the current advances in veterinary medicine.  We obtain further information on-line and consult with specialists to deliver personalized care for your pet.  When needed for complex cases, we can refer you to veterinary specialists we work with in the Portland area.

Diagnostics and Treatment:  Our hospital is equipped to help your veterinarian diagnose your pet's problems and to provide the appropriate treatment to assure your pet's recovery, as rapidly and completely as possible.

Preventive Wellness Health Care Plans:  We provide wellness care plans to help you provide the recommended preventive health care needs of your pet.  Keeping up to date on examinations, vaccinations, lab tests and parasite control ensures a long, healthy life for puppies and kittens, adult dogs and cats and senior pets.

Surgical Services:  Our modern surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures including spays and neuters, growth removals, abdominal surgery, anterior cruciate repair, and fracture repair.

Anesthesia:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety and quick recovery, especially for our older or high-risk patients.   We recommend pre-anesthetic bloodwork, EKG screen and IV fluids during the procedure as well.  Our surgical technicians provide constant monitoring of your pet's vital signs and supportive care  during all anesthetic procedures.

Pain Management:  We use a multimodal approach to pain, using different types of pain medication before, during and after a procedure  or for an injury or arthritis.   We make every effort to control pain and make your animal more comfortable.

Acupuncture:  Dr. Becky Jester is certified for veterinary acupuncture for small and large animals.  Acupuncture is a recognized therapy to aid in management of a variety of conditions including pain, arthritis, neurological disease, urinary incontinence, constipation, diarrhea, wound healing,
asthma, epilepsy, feline urinary problems, nausea/vomiting, and behavioral conditions.  Acupuncture is used successfully as an adujunctive therapy.  Prior to the use of acupuncture,  a thorough work-up and diagnosis of the condition is required.  This helps tailor a treatment plan for your animal.
