Our Groomer
Meet our groomer, Amber Taylor. Amber has been grooming since 2006 and has worked with animals for years before grooming. She studied under master groomers and is constantly learning by taking new courses in grooming as well as animal health care and training. Amber’s love for grooming and the pets she works with shines through. Amber says, “Everyday I do this job it is with a smile on my face. I truly love animals and know that I have found the right path.”

Your Pet’s Groom
Amber grooms both dogs and cats. She will spend time with you to find out what type of groom you want. Please let her know if your pet has any special requirements or health or behavioral issues. It is best if your pet has gone to the bathroom prior to bring it in for grooming.
First, your pet will be prepared for its’ bath. Amber begins by trimming nails, cleaning ears, and brushing and clipping. During bath time she will use whatever specialty shampoo is appropriate for your pet and its’ skin and hair. Anal glands will be expressed during bath time if possible. There is a drying process which varies on your pet. After the pet is dried, finishing touches begin. The time Amber spends on each pet is a reflection of the quality grooming and care your pet receives without hurrying the grooming process.
Professional grooming and grooming supplies are available at Eagle Fern Veterinary Hospital, PC. The best reunions of a pet and their owner we see are after the dog or cat has been pampered with a bath, clip and brush!
Here are some examples of some 'before and afters':
With pet handling expertise, our groomer can work with even the most 'disagreeable' pet. If necessary, your pet can be given a sedative by your veterinarian prior to your pet's grooming and supervised by our technicians until fully awake.
Our groomers can give you information on how often to have your pet professionally groomed, grooming tools, shampoos, conditioners, and homecare guidelines for a healthy coat and skin. We have many recommended grooming products in our retail area.
GENERAL GROOMING INFORMATION
How do I make an appointment?
We do have a limited number of grooms in a day. It is advisable to make an appointment in advance, especially before a holiday. You may call (503) 630-3538 or click here to request an appointment on-line.
EFVH can send you a reminder by mail or e-mail when your pet is due for its' next grooming appointment or set up your next appointment before you leave our office.
When can I drop off and pick up my pet?
If this will be your pet's first groom with EFVH, we ask that you speak with the groomer to discuss your pet's groom. We want you to be happy when you are reunited with your pet. We can set up a check-in appointment time. We will also be happy to call you when your pet is done and ready to come home.
If your pet has been groomed at EFVH before and have no changes, we ask that you drop off and pick up your pet during our regular business hours between 9:00 am - 5:30 pm on the day of your appointment.
What do you require before grooming my pet?
We pride ourselves on maintaining a safe and healthy environment for your pets while they are staying with us for their groom. This is the reason we require vaccinations for our grooming patients. It is best that vaccinations have been done at least a few weeks prior to grooming to ensure your pet is protected.
Required vaccines for dogs include Rabies, DHP, Parvo and Bordetella (kennel cough). Required vaccines for cats include Rabies and FVRCP (upper respiratory virus).
In order to keep our friends 'flea free', we can administer effective oral flea medication or apply topical flea control medication after your pet's grooming. EFVH recommends monthly flea control all year round.
If your pet has received preventive care elsewhere, please bring in vaccination records or receipts for proof of care.
Can my pet get medical care or surgery while it is being groomed at the hospital?
Yes. This is often a good opportunity to get your pet caught up on its' health care needs. Your pet can be spayed, neutered, or have its' teeth cleaned. Exams and preventive care can be performed by your pet's doctor. Upon admission, we will review your pet's health care recommendations and can prepare a cost estimate for the treatment plan.
What if the groomer notices any medical problems during my pet's groom?
Upon admission we ask for a contact number where you can be reached. We will contact you with any concerns we may have with your pet and get your consent for treatment.
Do you have general grooming advice?
All dogs and cats need grooming. Spending ten minutes every day helps increase the bond with your pet and keeps your pet's coat clean and matt free, with less shedding. Grooming your pet also makes you aware of any changes in the skin condition or the presence of fleas or skin growths. Combing your pet with a brush and comb removes dead hair and helps a cat from getting hairballs.
